5 steps to a better morning

Are you a morning person? It’s a phrase we hear a lot and if your answer is no, perhaps you need to make some small adjustments to help improve your mornings and feel better.

We’ve put together some simple things you can do to help feel less rushed in the morning and give yourself a chance to set up for the day:

  1. Stay off of your phone

Often the first thing we do when we wake up is to check our phone, either the news, social media or our emails. This can often cause stress and it’s immediately throwing our brain into work mode. Try to make the first 30 mins of your day screen free to help your mind be clearer and calmer.

  2. Have your day planned

If you take 10 mins each evening to look at the next day and create a plan of how to handle your tasks, it will make life much easier. We will reduce stress because we have planned in advanced and we will be able to do everything with a clear and organised head.

  3. Leave enough time to enjoy your breakfast

If you know you are someone who has to rush a bowl of cereal and quickly drink a coffee, you might benefit from giving yourself an extra 10 mins in the morning. Yes it’s hard to get up that 10 minutes earlier but it will mean you aren’t rushing around as much and you can actually sit and enjoy your breakfast properly.

  4. Stay off the Screen

It’s not just our phones thar should be avoided first thing. If you find that watching the news puts you in a negative mood in the morning, try listending to a podcats or music instead. How we start our day can impact how we are throughout, so a positive start to the morning will always be beneficial.

  5. Find time to exercise

Yes exercising in the morning is not always easy, but some movement first thing in the morning can provide you with good energy for the rest of the day. It doesn’t need to be a big workout, even 10 mins of stretching or some meditation might benefit you. Yes it will mean getting up that 10 minutes earlier but it will help improve your morning!
