Boosting Your Immune System Ahead Of Winter
None of us want to think too far ahead - we want to enjoy the last of the sunny weather, get that last BBQ in and avoid preparing for winter!
Whilst we have those feels too - it is important to think about re-boosting your immune system ahead of the colder months in order to prevent illness and speed up recovery if you do feel under the weather!
With this is mind, we’ve put together a simple guide on boosting your immune system!
STEP 1: DIET
One of the most effective ways to boost your immune system is to increase your intake of the essential vitamins and minerals our body needs. The easiest way to do this is to increase your intake of fruit and veg which you can do by packing it into your food - think soup, stew, casserole, these are all heartwarming and healthy meals that are filled with nutrients! The vapours form hot liquids will also help to flush out your body, so if there is a cold lurking, your diet will help clear it!
Try to increase your fruit intake by another 1 per day to up the amount in your daily diet.
STEP 2: FRESH AIR
Fresh air has been proven to help boost your energy levels and circulation, so adding in at least 10-15 mins of outdoor exercise each day will have huge benefits, this could even just be a short walk! For ideas you can check out our post on outdoor exercise here!
STEP 3 - THINK WHAT YOU DRINK
Something we all lose sight of in autumn/winter is our water intake. Keeping hydrated is essential all year round so try to keep a bottle of water with you during the day as a remidner to keep drinking!
We also recommend trying the following:
Ginger Tea
Hot water with Honey and Lemon
Green Tea
Rooibos
All of these include anti-oxidants and anti-inflammatory properties all of which help to prevent illness as well as improving digestion and heart health!
