How much should we be drinking?

The NHS recommends that adults drink between 6-8 glasses of water a day which equates to around 1.9 litres. This can be through water, coffee, tea, and low sugar/sugar free drinks. however, our recommendation is to try and get most of your water intake through actual water, keeping your tea and coffee limited as these are fluids that can actually dehydrate the body too if we drink them in excess.

How can I increase my water intake each day?

There are many ways in which you can increase your daily water intake and they are actually very easy to incorporate into your day. It may be hard to remember at first but over time it will because a natural daily habit!

  • Having a glass of water first thing in the morning, this will rehydrate the body and is a good thing to do before you drink tea or coffee as these can both dehydrate the body too.

  • Having a bottle of water next to you at your desk to ensure you keep drinking throughout the day

  • For every drink you have whether it’s wine, lemonade, a beer - have a glass of water too to constantly rehydrate.
