Spring into Spring! How to re-energise this season

With today marking the first official day of spring, it truly feels like we have more energy! To celebrate the arrival of a new season, we’re sharing our top tips on how to re-energise this month…

Top Tip No.1 - Hydration

Often during the winter we don’t drink as much water as we should. There are a number of reasons for this but the most common reason is that we are less inclined to drink water when the weather is colder and darker. So now that we are getting a daily dose of sunshine and feeling warmer, try to start increasing your daily water intake.

The recommended guideline for daily water intake is 1-2 litres a day, here are some ways to incorpate more:

  • Having a cup of water first thing when you wake up to rehydrate the body

  • Have a glass of water with every tea or coffee

  • Carrying a water bottle with you during the day or having it on your desk at work

Top Tip No.2 - Movement

It’s understandable that in the winter months we are less motivated to get outside and get moving - so now that the sun is shining and we feel that little bit warmer, it’s the perfect time to up our daily movement!

Getting outside everyday even for 10 minutes can give our energy levels a big boost! Not only that, 10 minutes of fresh air and sun is a great way to clear your head and feel more focused!

Maybe you could incorporate a short walk into your lunch break? Or take a phone call whils tin the park? Even scheduling a quick walk and catch up with a friend - al of these are great ways to get the mind and body moving!

Top Tip No. 3 - Switch Up Your Routine

Just like our kitchen cupboards need a good spring clean - so do our bodies! Entering a new season is a good time to evaluate your current exercise plan and those new year goals that you set back in January!

A helpful technique is to write down everything you are currently doing and enjoying with regards to your routine. The write down everything you haven’t been able to do and why - this will help you to identify barriers.

Once you have done this you will be able to see clearly what needs to be changed in your plan and what is holding you back. This will help you to make the necessary changes to your daily lifestyle and stop you from falling off the fitness wagon!
